The Japanese Society of Marine Biotechnology (JSMB), using biotechnology as its base, is established with the aim of working towards the scientific understanding and application of new technologies in the field of marine and oceanography. Our goals have not only focused to the extent of research advancements and growth, but we have also played an important role in Japan’s industries and related policies.

JSMB covers broad interests in fields including cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, microbial ecology, environmental microbiology, biologically active agents, genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, genetic on fishery and invertebrates, biomineralization, biomaterials, nanotechnology and aquafarming.

We also publish the international scientific journal “Marine Biotechnology”, organize nationwide annual meetings, and host international conferences such as the International Marine Biotechnology Conference and the Asia-Pacific Marine Biotechnology Conference. Through these efforts, we actively share information and knowledge with related domestic and international conferences.
